welcome.
1. this is not an emo blog where i’m going to talk about my terrible day and OMG that one cute member of the opposite sex was checking me out and OMG my life sucks because my ipod broke and ZOMG no one understands me. there are plentiful blogs like that out there, and this isn’t one of them.
2. a while back i had started a nutrition blog/site in the hopes of striving for a unique viewpoint – basically goofing off and making smarmy comments whilst posting cartoons of sentient food (sounds cuter and less frightening than you’d think). this is still my desire, although my goal may have matured somewhat (yet i still enjoy drawing food cartoons…).
3. the purpose (hopefully) of this blog is for me to blab about nutrition/food related anything – vitamins, supplements, food products, reviews, articles, etc. NO i am not going to tell you what you SHOULD be eating as the news media shoves enough of that in your face. unless you want me to.
4. why “nutrition nerd?” essentially, it’s named after me – i am not so much a foodie as i am a nutritional dork. i have been known for displaying frightening episodes of nutritional geekiness without warning. for instance:
me: Did you know that 140 grams of fresh blueberries contains 3 grams of fiber and that blueberries are high in manganese and vitamin K which make them an ideal food for diabetics?
you: *blink*
me: hehe! *pushes up nerdy glasses*
you: how did you get in my house?
5. i currently have a BS (insert joke here) in dietetics (fancy word for nutrition) and have just accepted a position in a hospital. (EDIT: actually, the hospital position sucked more than a vacuum cleaner. but the good Lord proved faithful and gave me an even better job working in a ghetto clinic for the county. that sounds terribly sarcastic, but i’m actually quite glad for this new gig.) so i figure i should get used to learning and rehashing facts about food and nutrition. also, i wouldn’t exactly call it boring, but the field of dietetics is not exactly akin to the drama of ER, Grey’s Anatomy, Scrubs, and the like.
6. i like to be sarcastic. there’s enough seriousness going around anyway, so i figure it’s up to me to find the humurous side of food, dieting, and nutrition in general. it’s gotta be around here somewhere. i want to prove that dietetics isn’t just restricted calories, bland diets and tube feedings.
7. like everyone else at blogger/typepad/wordpress/vox/livejournal/etc., i also have opinions/snarky comments and i want to proclaim them repeatedly in different ways until you are sick of them. i also hope to recount the incredibly and emphatically exhilarating experiences (sarcastic alliteration!) a college graduate goes through in order to become a registered dietitian slash nutritionist. right now i’m in limbo – trying to build up experience points whilst i prepare to attack the Internship Boss. if you’re a gamer geek of any sort that might’ve been funny. maybe.
8. a little about me: i love coffee. no, you don’t understand, I LOVE COFFEE. if i don’t have my daily cup there will be suffering and gnashing of teeth. mainly my own. i also enjoy strawberries/blueberries/fruit.
9. my mother likes to tease me whenever i’m not eating something healthy. this is a curse i will have to face the REST OF MY LIFE (not just by mom, but by anyone). people ask me non-food related questions, as for some reason they think i’m studying to become a doctor. heck naw. i’m not man enough to become a doctor. too much biology. and chemistry. and math. and – okay you get the point.
10. please don’t be afraid to leave comments or suggestions of what you’d like to see/read/learn about or make fun of. not me, though. unless you give me coffee.

Hi,
I was reading through your website, and I thought you may be interested in a product we carry, our 50 Healthy Foods Magnet Set. Each food snaps apart as a separate magnet, and includes information about essential nutrients, calories, fat, fiber, or protein! Not only do these magnets appeal to adults but they also help parents encourage their children to lead a healthy lifestyle.
Please visit our website at http://www.SimpleMemoryArt.com to read on about our fun, handy magnets! I think it’d be great for a review and of interest to those that browse the site. Thank you, and I look forward to hearing your feedback!
All the best,

I like your blog and your sense of humor is cool. I work in the Home infusion therapy field and unfortunately Some of the patient’s source of nutrition is Tube feeding.
Thanks for the Info on blueberries, good to know. Visit My blog sometime.
